Tata Electronics Appoints Bobby Mitra as CIO and President of AI & Digital Transformation

In a significant leadership move, Tata Electronics announced the appointment of Bobby Mitra as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and President of AI and Digital Transformation. Mitra will lead enterprise-wide initiatives focused on enhancing the company’s electronic manufacturing services (EMS), semiconductor assembly and test, semiconductor foundry, and design services.
Mitra’s leadership will be pivotal as Tata Electronics looks to accelerate its use of AI and digital platforms across its operations. Notably, his team will play a crucial role in advancing Tata Electronics’ landmark projects, including the establishment of India’s first semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and the country’s first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam.
“Tata Electronics is committed to the extensive use of automation, AI solutions, and digital platforms in its manufacturing facilities. I am excited to leverage my experience in the semiconductor industry to help shape the factories of the future here,” said Mitra in a statement.
A Veteran of the Semiconductor Industry
Bobby Mitra brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, having led smart manufacturing and global operations for Texas Instruments. He served as President and Managing Director of Texas Instruments India and most recently guided advancements in manufacturing and supply chain at Deloitte Consulting as Managing Director.

Mitra’s influence extends far beyond Tata Electronics. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and currently serves as the Global Chair of SEMI Smart Manufacturing. An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur and the University of Texas at Austin, he has also held leadership roles in several prestigious organizations, including the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and the VLSI Society of India.
