Merck, a global leader in science and technology, has partnered with the Digital Trust Centre (DTC) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), to develop groundbreaking digital trust technologies. This collaboration aims to revolutionize secure, automated, traceable, and efficient digital processes in highly regulated industries through the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, focuses on implementing innovative trust technology solutions that will accelerate Singapore-based companies’ digital transformation. NTU’s DTC will leverage its expertise alongside Merck’s pioneering technologies to drive advancements in digital-physical ecosystems, establishing a new paradigm for trust in value chains.
James Kugler, Chief Digital Officer at Merck and CEO of EMD Digital, emphasized the importance of this initiative:
“As regulatory expectations rise, businesses must maintain trust and compliance, transitioning from human-dependent quality control to data-driven decision-making in IIoT. Singapore’s exceptional digital business landscape and commitment to transformation make it the ideal launchpad for our innovative digital-physical trust technology, the first of its kind in Asia Pacific.”
Professor Lam Kwok Yan, NTU Singapore’s Associate Vice President (Strategy & Partnerships) and Executive Director of the Digital Trust Centre, shared a similar vision:
“Our mission at NTU’s Digital Trust Centre is to advance digital trust through research and innovation. Partnering with Merck allows us to develop scalable solutions for industries requiring unparalleled security and transparency. By combining NTU’s expertise in trust technologies with Merck’s pioneering platform, we aim to foster impactful change in digital-physical ecosystems.”
This collaboration introduces Merck’s multi-patented technology to Singapore, creating a platform that securely anchors physical objects to digital identities. Stakeholders can manage critical data seamlessly, fostering innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and building long-term trust in digital ecosystems.
