Infineon and EVE Energy Collaborate to Advance IoT-Enabled Battery Management Systems

Infineon Technologies AG and EVE Energy Co., Ltd., a prominent manufacturer of lithium batteries, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive the development of next-generation Battery Management Systems (BMS) for the automotive industry. This collaboration aims to deliver cutting-edge BMS solutions with a focus on safety, reliability, and optimized cost, thereby enhancing electric vehicle (EV) performance and energy efficiency.

Under the agreement, Infineon will supply a comprehensive chipset, including microcontroller units (MCUs), balancing and monitoring ICs, power management ICs, drivers, MOSFETs, controller area networks (CAN), and sensor products. These components will empower EVE Energy’s BMS to provide precise monitoring, protection, and optimization of EV battery systems, improving the driving experience and supporting sustainability.

A Partnership for Intelligent Battery Solutions

Andreas Doll, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Smart Power at Infineon, highlighted the importance of this collaboration:

“The rapid growth in electrification has driven the need for advanced battery solutions. The partnership between Infineon’s advanced battery management ICs and EVE Energy’s battery technologies will pave the way for the next generation of intelligent battery packs. Infineon offers a comprehensive and advanced system-level solution that meets the diverse needs of customers. This partnership will foster positive interaction and collaborative development at various levels.”

Liu Jianhua, co-founder and president of EVE Energy, emphasized their commitment to advancing battery technologies:

“EVE Energy has experienced rapid growth in the field of battery management systems in recent years, and we are determined to continue this development. Our goal is to jointly introduce more advanced solutions to the market that meet customers’ needs and drive the development of reliable and efficient systems.”

Infineon’s BMS Expertise

Infineon has a comprehensive portfolio of wired and wireless BMS solutions that cater to industrial, consumer, and automotive battery applications.

1. Wired BMS Solutions:

Based on Infineon’s AURIX™, PMIC, and Balancing and Monitoring ICs, including TLE9012DQU and TLE9015DQU. These ICs provide superior measurement accuracy, safety (up to ASIL-D standards), and application robustness, enabling lean, cost-efficient designs.

2. Wireless BMS Solutions:

Utilizing the low-power CWY89829 chip, Infineon’s wireless BMS creates an interconnected mesh network with maximum node connectivity and sensor efficiency. It eliminates the need for complex wiring, reducing weight and enhancing system reliability.

3. MOSFET and Driver Solutions:

Infineon’s EiceDRIVER™ products, including 2ED2410 and 2ED4820, offer robust solutions for future BMS applications, particularly for 24V/48V systems in EVs.
