In a bold move to position itself at the forefront of India’s AI transformation, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed an MoU with Nvidia to establish a dedicated Artificial Intelligence University and train 10,000 engineering students across the state.
The collaboration is more than just symbolic — it’s a roadmap for building a full-fledged AI ecosystem in the region. The announcement comes after a meeting between Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who discussed opportunities for deep, structural AI integration in education and industry.
What’s the Vision?
The plan has three pillars:
- AI Education:
Nvidia will provide curriculum support, technical materials, and training resources to engineering colleges, ensuring that students gain hands-on exposure to AI tools and thinking. - Research & Innovation:
Multiple AI research centres will be set up across Andhra Pradesh with Nvidia’s guidance. These will focus on real-world challenges in areas like healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, and industrial automation. - Startup Support:
The state will help 500+ AI-focused startups gain access to Nvidia’s Inception Programme, while also launching AI Factories — hubs designed to accelerate talent and innovation.
